Unique 60° Emitter Angle Puts More Radiant Heat Into Primary Brood Area
No other radiant gas brooder can provide more radiant heat to the floor of your poultry house than Space-Ray. Our specially designed 60° emitter angle, combined with our deep dish canopy, produces an optimum heat pattern in the primary brood area. This large radiant heat pattern means that fewer brooders are required in each house resulting in fuel savings.
Fully Insulated, Enclosed Emitter Assembly for Durability & Efficiency
Space-Ray's stainless steel emitter assembly is fully insulated and enclosed so the insulation will not crumble or distort in the tough operating conditions normally found in poultry houses. This exclusive design not only provides durability but also prevents heat loss back through the emitter than can occur over time. Air Filter Option
In reasonably clean operating environments, an air filter is unnecessary because of the SHP17B's unique double gas burner system that combusts dust and carbon to help prevent buildup. Space-Ray offers the air filter option shown here for use in harsh agricultural environments.

The Original Radiant Gas Tube Heater
At Space-Ray we designed the original unitized radiant tube heater over 40 years ago. Now, we have designed a radiant tube heater specifically for the poultry industry. Our emphasis was then, as it is today, on quality and fuel efficient performance. Performance you can rely on. When it comes to product reliability and fuel efficient operation, Space-Ray equipment has withstood the test of time.
Powerful And Fuel Efficient Radiant Heat
Space-Ray Radiant Gas Tube Heaters operate using the same principle ad the sun. Before heating the air, radiant warmth is delivered directly to the birds and litter area where it's needed most. This warmth at floor level helps to dry out the litter area and keep ammonia levels lower. It will also create a thermal reservoir in the litter area, trapping and recycling the heat to save fuel. The self-enclosed draft inducer pulls products of combustion through the combustion chamber, providing a more even tube temperature, increasing efficiency and safety. The draft inducer motor is totally enclosed, sealed and permanently lubricated for long life.
Available With The New Operational Cold Air Stopper™
Space-Ray's innovative Cold Air Stopper™ stops cold or hot air from entering the poultry house when the heaters are not in operation. This unique, patent-pending damper system inserts on the inlet side of the fresh air duct system.
When the heater's draft inducer starts, the Cold Air Stopper™ automatically opens to allow the introduction of fresh air for combustion. When the heater turns off, the Cold Air Stopper closed to prevent frigid air from being pulled into the poultry house, increasing the system's efficiency. The system can also stop sweating problems that can often plague tube heater control boxes. This condensation can not only drop onto the bird letter below, but reduce the life of the heating system. During summer, when the heaters are not in operation, the system can also prevent hot air from entering through the heater from outside.

Introducing TISS™ - Tube Integrity Safety Shut-Off System
Space-Ray's patent pending innovative safety feature for positive pressure radiant tube heaters is called the "Tube Integrity Safety System" (TISS™).
In the unlikely event of a tube failure, TISS™ has been designed to automatically shut off the heater. The revolutionary TISS™ uses a simple principle to place an electrically insulated aluminum wire in tension above the reflector. Low voltage is then continuously passed along the wire in line with the gas control circuit. If heat levels increase due to heat exchanger failure, the wire melts and the safety circuit is broken, breaking the 24 volt circuit and shutting down the heater. You may never know it is there, but it provides peace of mind.
